Summary and thoughts on "Eclipse" by Stephenie Meyer --Joey Ray

Note: I finished reading this a little big ago.  And I've seen the movie so many times.  I started reading Breaking Dawn (Next Twilight Book), but felt it would be weird to skip a book and write a summary and spoil things that may be hard to understand without knowing what happened in Eclipse.  So if you notice any mix ups between the movie and the book, I apologize.  But I tried to remember correctly about the book.  Enjoy!

When many missing persons cases occur in Seattle, Bella and the Cullens have no idea that they are involved with the conflict.  Suddenly Alice, Edward's sister, has a vision that seems to startle her greatly.  Bella can tell that something is going on, but Edward won't say.

Soon, Edward arranges for Bella to use her birthday gift from Esme and Carlisle, Edward's parents, which are plane tickets to Pheonix to visit her Mom, Renee.  After the trip, the Bella and the Cullens realize that an unknown vampire had been in Bella's room and stolen one of her clothes.  They suspect that it is to track Bella's scent for some odd reason.

Eventually after finding out the story of how Jasper, Edward's brother, became a vampire, it stuck to her mind. Back in 1861, 17 year old, Jasper Whitlock had joined the Confederate Army.  One night, he had stumbled across three pale, beautiful women.  The leader's name was Maria.  I'm sure you can guess that they were vampires.  After biting him, Jasper had been manipulated by Maria into creating an army of newborn vampires in order to beat other southern vampire gangs for land.  He was in charge of killing the older, weaker vampires.  It eventually became too much for Jasper when he fled and left the whole thing behind.  Like most would be, Bella was scared of the story that later gave her a dream.  That's when she realized that the mystery of the missing persons cases in Seattle, were no longer mysteries.  She realized that someone had been creating an army--an army of vampires.  And it wasn't just anyone.  It was Victoria, the mate of James.  James had attempted to kill Bella in Twilight when Edward fought and killed him.  Since then, Victoria had been seeking revenge.  She believed that it was only fair to kill Edward's mate since he killed hers.

After many things that I will not spoil, the Cullens and werewolves, who are natural enemies, united to fight for Bella.  When the army arrived, they fought.  There are some things that I can't say without spoiling important events.  All I can say is... this book is good!

A difference that I notice between the book and the movie is how annoying Charlie, Bella's father, is in the book than the movie.  In both, he holds a grudge over Edward because of what Bella did in "New Moon".  She went to Vulterra, Italy to save Edward from the Vulturi.  Except, Charlie didn't know anything about that.  So obviously, he was angry.  In the movie, he really held back compared to the book.  In the book, he treated Edward badly without embarrassment.  He also yelled a lot.  I wanted to reach my hand into that paper and slap him a bunch.

All in all, I suggest that you all read the Twilight series.  I think the movies are better, but that's just me.  I recommend that you watch the movies first, so that you know what happens in the books.  The books can be boring.  But knowing the craziness that will happen will motivate you to keep reading.  This story is amazing.  And I really dislike reading.
